Since its establishment in 1993, Norameda has grown from a local pharmaceutical distributor into an integrated regional partner operating across Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltics. Over the years, the company has continuously expanded its expertise, capabilities, and partner network, adapting to the evolving needs of healthcare systems and patients across the region.

Founded as a pharmaceutical wholesaler

Norameda was established in Lithuania as a pharmaceutical wholesale company. The business began with the distribution of medicines manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration with international pharmaceutical companies.

Expansion into marketing and sales

The company expanded beyond distribution, adding pharmaceutical marketing and sales services to its portfolio. The first commercialization agreement was signed with Pharmaton, a member of the Boehringer Ingelheim Group, marking the beginning of Norameda’s partnership-driven business model.

Baltic expansion and portfolio growth

Operations were expanded to Latvia and Estonia, strengthening Norameda’s presence across the Baltic region. During this period, the company also broadened its portfolio through partnerships with companies including Torrex, Chiesi, Adamed, and AOP Health, while restructuring its operations into dedicated therapeutic business units.

Quality excellence and international partnerships

Norameda obtained its GMP license and launched batch release activities, significantly expanding its regulatory and quality capabilities. The company also initiated its first projects in Finland and Belarus and strengthened its partner network through collaborations with Vifor and GSK.

Expansion across Central and Eastern Europe

Norameda extended its activities beyond the Baltics, launching projects in Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia. During this period, the company established a group company in Poland and expanded its portfolio through partnerships with Uriach, Allergy Therapeutics, and Baxter.

Recognizing the growing importance of highly specialized therapies, Norameda established a dedicated Specialty Care and Rare Diseases business unit. This strategic step strengthened the company’s expertise in complex treatment areas and therapies addressing unmet medical needs.

Norameda began managing projects covering the full Central and Eastern European region, evolving into a truly integrated regional partner. New collaborations with Organon, Aboca, Biotest, Zambon, and Bioprojet further expanded the company’s portfolio and capabilities across multiple therapeutic areas.
